Teddy is the reason my family will be coming back—and the reason I’ll recommend the InterContinental at The Wharf to anyone visiting the area.The hotel itself is lovely and incredibly convenient. Our room was spacious and clean, and every staff member we encountered greeted us warmly and seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask.But Teddy took hospitality to an entirely different level.My kids came back from an epic concert absolutely STARVING at 11:30 on a Sunday night. I reminded them that it was nearly midnight on a Sunday and perhaps they should have considered feeding themselves at some point during the five hours since I’d left them. Nevertheless, I shuffled down to the lobby in my pajamas, hoping I could at least find a bag of chips or something to keep the teenagers alive until morning.The first person I saw was Teddy. I told him I had starving teenagers upstairs and asked if he knew of anywhere I could possibly still get food.“Pizza and pasta okay? Follow me. I’ll take you to where we go.”And he did.Teddy actually walked me down the block to a lively little Italian place I never would have found on my own. He disappeared inside for a moment, came back out, and told me they would take care of me in just a minute. Then he disappeared back into the night like the angel he was.They quickly made my pizzas, and within 15 minutes I was back at the hotel, food in hand, thanking Teddy.What Teddy probably didn’t realize was that I had never been to The Wharf before. I had no idea where I was, how to navigate the area, what might still be open that late—or where I could safely and quickly find food at midnight. He could easily have just pointed me in a direction or suggested somewhere to try. Instead, he immediately took it upon himself to solve the problem and literally walked me to the solution.It was such a simple act of kindness, but it was so far above and beyond anything I expected.That is hospitality. Teddy didn’t just answer a guest’s question; he saw someone who needed help and genuinely wanted to make sure she was taken care of. He turned what could have been a frustrating end to a wonderful night into one of my favorite memories from the trip.The beautiful hotel and great location may have gotten us there the first time. Teddy is the reason we’ll come back.

We had a nice view of the Wharf area and easy access to the many food attractions available. We had such friendly and accommodating service in the on-site restaurant that we mostly ate in the hotel. The people who waited on us, Jazz and Sipan, made our stay really comfortable, relaxing, and memorable.All of the staff that we interacted with were great and made us feel welcome.
