Valet Parking

Pandemic Valet Operating Procedures

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Colonial Parking is implementing a variety of new protocols and enhanced operating procedures in accordance with government regulations and industry best practices for the safety of customers and staff. In general, these adjusted or enhanced operating procedures are intended to achieve the following:

  • Comply with Social Distancing Guidelines
  • Limit Direct Contact Between Customers and Staff
  • Enhance Sanitation in the Parking Operations

The following procedures are being implemented across all Colonial Parking locations, where applicable:

  • Signage and floor markers to remind customers to maintain proper social distance
  • Employees wearing gloves, face masks and coverings
  • Regular disinfecting of hard surfaces, parking equipment and other frequently touched areas
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers in customer and employee areas
  • Disinfectant wipe stations for customer and employee use
  • Installation of protective plastic panels at applicable locations

In addition to these enhancements being implemented globally, Colonial Parking has carefully reviewed our operating procedures at each type of location we manage and implemented certain supplemental enhancements. The following is a summary of these specific enhancements by location type:

Full Valet with Luggage Procedures

  • Receiving the Vehicle & Issuing Tickets
    • Maintain Social Distancing as much as possible from customer extending arm as far as practical, possibly leaving the ticket on a surface for the customer to retrieve.
    • Offer Customer to take a picture of the ticket instead of the ticket itself
    • Avoid touching the vehicle as much as possible while surveying the vehicle.
    • When prepaying, follow supplemental cashiering procedures.
    • Do not operate any unnecessary vehicle controls to avoid unneeded contact of vehicle surfaces.
  • Luggage Handling
    • You must ask for permission to touch the customer’s luggage.
    • Try to only touch the handles of the customer’s luggage, always wear gloves, and offer to wipe down the handles after handling each bag.
    • Luggage Carts
    • Keep wipes with carts and wipe touched surfaces prior to giving to the customer.
    • You must ask for permission to touch the customer’s luggage.

  • Vehicle Delivery to the customer
    • Maintain Social Distance with the customer
    • Offer disinfectant wipes to the customer to clean the car.
    • If they would like us to do so, clean the steering wheel, gear shift, start button, keys, and door handles inside and out with disinfectant wipes.
